Mood Boosting Exercises

February has a reputation for being a total bummer. Valentine’s Day, winter weather, and loss of momentum on New Year’s resolution can all create a dark cloud. But, there is a way out!

Exercise is one of the best ways to boost your mood on a daily basis. Practice these exercises a few times a week to lift feelings of depression and anxiety!

Yoga

Yoga is great exercise for people living with HIV. Not only does it lower blood pressure and reduce stress, it puts you in touch with how your body is feeling. The best part is that anyone can do it – whether you’re a beginner or an expert.

Cycling

If you’re feeling down, hop on a bicycle. Cycling is low-impact cardio, which means it does not feel as energy-depleting as other exercise. Plus, you’ll get to experience fresh air and sunshine!

Walking

Yes, walking counts as exercise. If you’re feeling low-energy, walking can get your blood flowing and get your mind off of things. It’s also a great way to combat cravings if you’re trying to quit smoking.

Fitness Classes

Zumba, dance, and hula hooping are all great ways to exercise while having fun. Your mood will be improved while you’re doing it and afterwards!

Weights

Lifting weights is a challenging form of exercise that builds muscle and clarity. You can set goals for yourself and give yourself a treat when you accomplish them!
